Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia refers to a diffuse total body pain syndrome with associated fatigue, and sleep dysfunction. Fibromyalgia affects people physically, psychologically and socially. A hallmark of the disorder is tender points along different areas of the body that cause point pain when pressed or touched. After a thorough assessment to rule out other disorders,  we employ a holistic approach to treatment that requires partnership with the patient, physical therapists, and possibly psychologists for central pain control.

Chronic pain

Chronic pain can arise from different structures in the body, like visceral structures (stomach, intestines), uterine/ovaries, after limb injury (chronic regional pain syndrome), or uncontrolled joint pains. There is rarely widespread point tenderness, but the impact psychologically and socially is not that different from fibromyalgia.
